Tencent, the developer, and distributor of PlayerUnknown’s BattleGround secretly developed a game which is an alternative of PUBG Mobile in China called “Game for Peace AKA Peace Elite”. Before Tencent swapped PUBG Mobile with Game for Peace, It was available in China for over a year. But as they noted, the company couldn’t monetize the game because it didn’t meet the Chinese government’s strict Gaming Regulations guidelines. China is a huge market for games with more than 600 million players in the country alone, but publishers must submit their games to the Chinese government for approval if they want to legally sell them in the nation.
So with this change, PUBG will no longer be available in China and it will not get any new upgrades. The existing PUBG Game players will be able to easily migrate their playing statistics and invite friends to play PUBG Tencent Game for Peace. Tencent developed Game for Peace or Peace Elite with one of its internal teams. And because it was approved, the publisher can finally monetize its mobile shooter in China. But despite gameplay is similar, former PUBG Mobile game players noticed that Game for Peace is a sanitized depiction of Battle Royale Genre, as well as a not-so-subtle piece of propaganda for the Chinese air force.
